Airline Travel
Over ½ of pet owners travel or vacation with their pets. Here are some pet airline travel tips:

First, not all airlines carry pets and there is a limit to the number of pets on each flight.

Small Pets:

  • Allowed in passenger area.
  • Required to have carrier that fits under the seat in front of you.
Larger Pets:
  • Must travel in cargo area.
  • A sturdy pet carrier large enough for the animal to stand and turn around in is required.
  • Absorbent paper is recommended for peace of mind: Airlines pay close attention to care.
"Something to Know" By Federal Law, each pet:
  • Must be current on rabies protection.
  • Have current health certificate from a veterinarian issued no later than 10 days before travel.
  • Another certificate may be necessary for the return trip.
It's easier than you think - just let your air carrier help you from the start.
