Obedience for Dogs

I am going to discuss some basic obedience tips for dogs.

First tip is simple - when feeding your dog, place the food down and allow 15 minutes for them to eat. After 15 minutes take the food up. The reason - in the wild, dogs run in packs, the leader dog chooses when and for how long each dog eats to assert their leadership.

Another tip - teach your dog to sit. Each time they sit give verbal praise and an occasional bit of a treat. Practice this sitting as many as 15-20 times an hour. Be prepared for resistance in the form of half sitting or sitting on your foot or half sitting off to the side.

Set feedings and the sitting routine are easy ways to teach basic obedience to your dog - better yet - they work!!!
