Baby Teeth

Did you know that puppy teeth and the same is true for kitten baby teeth occasionally fail to fall out when they should?

The problem - if these baby teeth persist after 6 months of age - they occupy the same space where the adult tooth wants to come in. The baby tooth acts much like a retainer pushing the new adult tooth in an abnormal direction. When baby teeth do persist, the easiest time to have them extracted is when your pet is spayed or neutered. Retained teeth are seen most often in small to midsize breed dogs, but it's smart to check for this in all young dogs and cats.
