Vaccine Induced Sarcoma in Cats
The new hot topic for cat owners – could the rabies or feline leukemia shots cause a deadly cancer at the area where the vaccine is injected? The answer: possibly, but very rarely – around 1 out of 10,000 cats. We know the need for rabies in ALL cats and feline leukemia in outdoor cats far outweighs the concern over this cancer. So what do we look for? If a bump on the skin where a vaccine was given does not go away in a month, definitely point this bump out to your veterinarian. Early detection and a simple surgery can nip this budding problem.
