Healthy Treats

Most dog and cat owners want to know what they can give to their pet as healthy treats.  First of all, most biscuits you buy in stores aren’t very healthy because theyare high in tasty fats and carbohydrates.  Look for biscuits low in fat and high in fiber.  Chewable vitamins you get from the vet or your pet store are excellent treats.  Certain foods from the table like rice, string cheese, well-cooked meats, or lean chicken; when fed in moderation, are good for your pet.  Bones or fatty foods are a bad idea.  Definitely avoid giving your pet chocolate and onions. Most dogs like carrots, apples, or green beans.  You will be surprised how many cats like melon or corn.  To avoid begging, I suggest feeding table food at different times then when the family is sitting down for a meal.
