Brushing Your Cat's Teeth
Eighty-five percent of cats over three years of age have gum disease. What is the major cause of cat gum disease? Tartar builds up on the teeth. How do you stop dental tartar? The easiest way is to not feed soft cat food. The harder way is to brush your cat’s teeth every day. Let’s make brushing simple: take a small amount of special cat toothpaste on your finger, gently rub your finger 3-4 times between the teeth and lip on one side of the mouth, and then the other side – see, that wasn’t too difficult. Do this daily, gradually increasing the number of strokes. Now for the big move to a brush! A brush is accepted much more quickly if it is dipped in tuna water before the special toothpaste is applied. Does not use human toothpaste for your cat.
