Parvo Virus
A deadly disease of dogs that can be avoided is the parvo virus.

The signs of a dog with parvo are profuse diarrhea and possibly vomiting. Sadly, this disease causes death in half the dogs infected under one year of age. Fortunately, with early detection and aggressive supportive therapy, loss of life from this virus is rare.

Avoid parvo disease with timely puppy and adult vaccination and, to avoid parvo in puppies, keep your dog away from parks or playgrounds where unvaccinated dogs could be found until two weeks after the puppy vaccine series.
