The Barking Dog
What to do about a barking dog? First thing is not to yell at your dog while they bark – there is a good chance the dog will think you are joining in.

Most dogs bark out of boredom or frustration. Lots of frisbee play and long walks help to stop this boredom. Leaving the radio or T.V. on at a normal level can also help with boredom.

Spaying and neutering have been shown to decrease frustration barking. Some dogs bark and bark from the excitement of seeing their owners come home. Ignore this hound until they settle down – now is the time for praise and attention. Remember, barking is just another way to get your attention.
